Participatory Research and Innovations Management (PRIM-Zambia) Non for profit, Non-Governmental Organisation founded in 2012 but registered with PACRA in 2017 with the main goal of promoting research and innovative service delivery practices that ensures sustainable and inclusive development for individuals, communities and institutions in Zambia.

What we do

Our Research Specialities

Health

We have conducted research in topics such as HIV/AIDS, Adolescent and Youth Health, Nutrition, Community Health systems, Sexual Reproductive Health and Health care Monitoring and Evaluation, to name but a few.

Education

The primary purpose of our educational research is for the overall development of inclusive education, improvement in quality learning outcomes, problem-solving in pedagogy, community engagement and policy formulation.

Youth/Women Empowerment

We have researched Gender-Based Violence, Rape, Early and Forced Marriage, Child Protection, and questionable societal practices. We have also facilitated Social and Emergency Cash Transfer to vulnerable households and individuals.

Regional SRHR MTR covering Malawi, Kenya, Unganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe

Hivos

The endline evaluation is designed to provide an independent review of the programme’s performance by documenting its successes, challenges, and lessons, while examining the uptake of mid-term recommendations, and undertaking methodology design, stakeholder engagement, digital data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

The Embassy of Ireland

Conducted an endline evaluation of the ECDE Project “Creating a Brighter Future for Zambia’s Children” in Sioma and Shangombo districts, Western Province, commissioned by Save the Children, to assess outcomes, impact, and inform future programming.

Inclusive Climate Smart Action – Rapid Assessmnet

Catholic Relief Services (CRS)

The research aimed to assess and implement Climate Smart Agriculture practices that mitigate drought impacts while improving nutrition, productivity, and resilience, through developing ethical protocols, digitised data collection tools, training, and conducting comprehensive data collection, synthesis, analysis, and report writing.

Child Friendly Schools (CFS)

Germany Government (BMZ)

Conducted an Ex-post Evaluation for the Child Friendly Schools (CFS) in Kafue and Chibombo Districts Implemented by ChildFund through its local partners with support from the Germany Government (BMZ).

Assessment of the CDC Development Objective 3

SoCha LLC

The research assessed USAID’s progress in improving health outcomes in HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, nutrition, and WASH, through community health needs mapping, private sector engagement analysis, framework development, desk review, and preparation of an evidence brief and presentation to SoCha and USAID.

Stakeholder Engagement

At PRIM-Zambia, we consider stakeholders' engagement to be a key aspect of the process. We consider those who are affected by a problem, served by a public program, employed by an organization or provide services to primary actors as key players in each stage of services delivery. For instance, participating stakeholders are involved in the initial identification of the problem to be studied; the design of the research process or methods; the collection, documentation, and analysis of data; and the implementation of new approaches that result from the insights, lessons, and findings that emerge from the research.

To adequately engage stakeholders, we create awareness and improve the knowledge of individuals and communities about the topics and research project. In addition, we build the capacity of local data collectors who facilitate the acceptability and conducting of our research in a culturally fit model. This dialogue with stakeholders makes PRIM-Zambia unique among researchers, with strict adherence to accountability to primary actors and transparency in our actions.
